Message from the Rector

Father Zoy Garibay, OFM Cap., Rector of Saint Lawrence SeminaryThe Spirit of Calvary is alive and strong!

Since opening its doors in 1860, more than 10,000 young men have come to Saint Lawrence Seminary to open their hearts and seek the will of God in their lives. And over those more than 160 years, Saint Lawrence Seminary molded these boys into young men of faith, service and, most importantly, with the Gospel of Jesus Christ as their foundation.

Today, Saint Lawrence Seminary is a thriving minor seminary community with 200 students each year from across the United States and the world. These Sons of Calvary are discerning God’s call in their lives, whether as priests, religious, or lay persons and experiencing a brotherhood that cannot be described with ordinary words. We call it “the Calvary Spirit.”  And I am pleased to report, it is alive and strong and a source of hope for tomorrow’s Church.

As you read through the pages of our website, know that the Capuchins are fully committed to the future of Saint Lawrence Seminary and ensuring the Calvary Spirit burns brightly in the hearts and minds of future generations of young men as they prepare for lives of servant leadership in our Church and world.  And with the continued generosity and support of benefactors, friends and alumni like YOU, the future of Saint Lawrence Seminary is one that knows no limits.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the unique past, vibrant present and exciting future of Saint Lawrence Seminary.

May the Lord bless and keep you,

Father Zoy Garibay, OFM Cap.
Rector
