Saint Anthony Hall Renovation Project

The Saint Anthony Hall Renovation Project is nearly complete!

Despite the seminarians being home for the summer, our Seminary campus is far from quiet!

Noise from heavy construction equipment fills the air. The new 3000 square foot addition on the freshmen and sophomore dormitory is nearing completion, including the new foyer and lobby, a required elevator, new class social spaces, an expanded recreational area downstairs and two new adult supervisory apartments on each floor.

This vital building on campus  has been home to almost every new seminarian since 1959. For most of our young men, it is their first “home away from home,” their first experience of setting out on their own to follow their hearts and to seek a closer relationship with the Lord.

This major expansion and renovation first started with questions about replacing and expanding the dormitory windows, both for energy savings and to simply let in more light. It became clear the aged restrooms, showers, and plumbing were also in need of updating.

Work began in December 2013 and was completed by the time the seminarians returned in August 2014. The renovated residence hall will be rededicated with the names of all benefactors behind the new cornerstone Saint Anthony Hall.

Soon, the attention will turn to the expansion of the outdoor Saint Anthony Shrine and Garden in which the names of Saint Anthony Hall donors will be enshrined and honored. Generations of young seminarians will long remember those who supported this enormous undertaking.

Please walk with us once again to prepare our Seminary campus for the future.  Walk with the Capuchins in the footsteps of Saint Francis to rebuild the Church with “living stones” – all the young men who will enter Saint Anthony Hall in the decades to come.
